Welcome to my website.I've been a songwriter since 1998 and my genre is best described as folk/country.I
don't have any gimmics. These are songs about country living, love, and circumstance. There are 6 songs under my name on
myspace.com for your listening and there's a link on this page for myspace.com. Collecting vinyl records is also a passion
of mine.I prefer the analog sound of a record over a cd but that's just me.There's a webpage dedicated to vinyl on this site.
The songs Glenn originally wrote were done in his garage on reel to reel tape. They were then transferred
to MP3's for the first Napster attempt some years ago.Using the Napster instant messenger,Glenn offered his mp3's to people
he met on the messenger and received good response. He became very interested in the transferring of music through the internet.Glenn
was still using the reel to reel format for his masters but converted the masters to digital cd's for the internet use.
In 2003 Glenn started working with his blues band "The Stand".The Stand consisted of Tom O'Day on lead vocals
and harp,Rob Barry on keyboards,Glenn French on lead guitar and bass, and Rob Canal on drums."When we played live we had no
bass player. We just relied on Rob Barry's left hand of his keyboard",states Glenn. The Stand then made an attempt at recording
their own album.French explains,"we set everything up in my Naugatuck home using the same analog reel to reel gear. The drummer
was in the den and the other 3 of us were in the living room with the mixing board and tape deck.Since we couldn't
see the drummer he counted off all the songs with his sticks. My Marshall amp cabinet was in the basement with a microphone. After
all the intial songs were recorded I overdubbed the bass and acoustic guitar parts. The final mix was done with 3
compressors and we just finished before the old tape deck needed repair. The reel to reel just started squeeling during
the final mixing. We were able to pull it all off before it stopped working.A local guy was able to fix it for me after
all our sessions were done."
He was eventually contacted by an independent label called Wild Oats Records in Nashville,Glenn headed
south to record 4 songs. He met two very gifted people.Steve Haggard,a producer with instincts that are second to none and
Randall Merryman,an engineer who has worked with many of the top names in the business.
After that first taste of a professional studio setting,Glenn returned to Nashville for a full length album named "Timeless".He
brought 12 new songs and recorded them in two trips."The last trip to Nashville I brought my 16 year old son.My son is a studying
percussionist and he was recorded on 2 tracks for the "Timeless" CD.
